On Tuesday 29 October, the Ministerio de Hacienda de Brasil entered into a technical cooperation agreement with four key organizations in the fight against result manipulation: Sportradar, Genius Sports, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) and the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA and SIGA Latinoamerica).
Regis Dudena, secretary of Prizes and Games of Gambling of the Ministerio de Hacienda, left the novelty of the regulation in the country and expressed appreciation for the organizations of his apoyo: «Our experience is very new, and we will learn from us. Thank you for sharing data and knowledge to enhance our functionalities”, reported.
Also present was Giovanni Rocco Neto, secretary of Sports and Economic Development of the Ministry of Sports, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding the image of Brazilian sportspeople. «When you talk about apuestas, you shouldn't think only about the Ministry of Hacienda, until about deportation. We are concerned about the desmedida publicity in Brazilian football and the need to act quickly before any case of manipulation,” he stated.
The organizations involved will be loaded with information gathering on the resource market and will enable officials to monitor the sector. The acuerdos have a duration of five years and facilitate the transfer of funds between the parties.
Sérgio Floris, general director of Sportradar Brasil, spoke about the negative impact of manipulation in the deporte: «There has been no easier way to destroy the value in the deporte through manipulation. This is an important step because Brazil must be considered the most suspicious country of manipulation in the world.”
Floris concluded by saying that, although the journey has just begun, it is a tangible effort by the government, sports entities and associations to address this problem.
