Ecuador Insta to its citizens to abandon the Middle East
The Chancellery of Ecuador has ordered its citizens to leave Israel, Palestine and Lebanon due to increased tensions in the region and the possibility of a deterioration in security. In a statement, it advises Ecuadorians to take precautions when planning their exit from these countries. It also suspends travel to the Middle East while the armed conflict persists. The situation is complicated by the recent decision of Vice President Veronica Abad, who has left Tel Aviv, and who has not acted as ambassador since December of last year by order of President Daniel Noboa. After expressing her fear for her safety in a communication from Tel Aviv, she asked Chancellor Gabriela Sommerfeld to sign a contingency plan to allow the movement of diplomatic personnel in the event of an emergency.

Although the Ecuadorian embassy in Israel has faced risks, such as a drone attack near its headquarters in July that left its mark, the Chancellery assures that it will continue to work on behalf of Ecuadorians and has received guarantees from the Israeli government on the safety of diplomatic missions.

The relationship between Noboa and Abad has been strained in the context of the election campaign, with both exchanging accusations of disloyalty and political pressure.
