In a political act celebrated on the Rambla de Parque Rodó, the presidential candidate of the Partido Nacional, Álvaro Delgado, joined the republican coalition together with other parliamentary candidates such as Andrés Ojeda, Guido Manini Ríos and Pablo Mieres, along with several official leaders.
During his speech broadcast by Telemundo (Channel 12), Delgado hizo hincapié in the answer given by the citizenry to the coalition in the elections, highlighting that for four consecutive times they have trusted in them to direct the destinies of the country. With a total of 48% of the votes, the coalition received a clear demonstration of popular support, which, according to Delgado, took on the responsibility of governing the country.
The candidate highlighted the importance of meeting Uruguay with the clear electoral advantage, urging the people to elect those candidates who present concrete proposals, are prepared to govern, have clear programs and transmit credibility. Delgado also recognized and praised the active participation of young people in politics, highlighting their trust, militancy and compromise. He underlined the importance of the future government ensuring equality of opportunities, especially for the younger generations, making sure to prioritize governability with the next generations in mind.
In this context, the candidate expressed the need to demand a governability that extends over time, veiling the bienestar and the continuous progress of future Uruguayan generations.
